Giuliano Giacovazzi

I submit my candidacy for COMITES with a strong sense of responsibility toward the Italian community in South Africa and a lifelong commitment to civic participation, cultural continuity, and constructive institutional engagement.

I currently serve as Vice-President of the Italian Club of Cape Town, now in my second consecutive term. In this role, I have worked directly to strengthen governance, increase member engagement, and support initiatives that preserve our heritage while ensuring long-term community relevance. Previously, I led the Youth and Sporting Portfolio of the Club, successfully organizing international cultural and sporting exchanges with Italian delegations and fostering deep ties with institutions abroad.

Alongside my community leadership, I bring over 24 years of international business experience as the founder of Hostival and a franchise owner with Rawson Properties, navigating complex negotiations and strategic management across diverse markets. Furthermore, my active civic background — including serving as the local reference for Italians abroad during the 2013 national elections — has given me a profound, practical understanding of the ties connecting our diaspora to Italy.

I believe COMITES plays a vital role in representing Italians abroad, and I am fully committed to contributing my experience in governance, business, and community leadership to build an inclusive, transparent, and connected future for our community across the Cape.
